Potpourri, bits and pieces

I liked National Parks. I guess it's back to the same old ho hum now, a shame!

I would love to go back to Disneyland, now!
I would love to go back to Disney World next week!
I would love to watch Walt Disney: The Man behind the Myth anytime!
I would love to go the the Presidio sometime soon!
Heck I'll just Google Earth 3 of the 4 today!

Sign of the times: people noticibly out of work, people no longer in their homes, lots of pretend jobs, no extra money, food, gas and utilities have gone up again, politics as usual with not much change in the immediate future, winter is coming, TV is LOUDER and less entertaining and not very educational.

It is extremely difficult to do anything but except the fact that anyone you see is a Citizen of the United States so why do I see so many TSA uniforms.

I just read that for every 1 United States (are there any or is it American) car sold in Japan 400 Toyotas (any imported Toyotas?)  are sold in the United States, sadly that is just one example. I wonder for every lost United States job lost how many American jobs are created? Is it not the same thing no, I fear not.

Be sure to watch the Super Millionaire Game this year.

If Tiger loses a match or a tourney he doesn't lose his millions yet when he is out driven by a twelve year old why is it the kid doesn't win. Or does he?

Attendance to most everthing is down this year.

School closings rising but not because of the flu.

If you win the lotto, you know the one where one person (hopefully a citizen of this country) usually wins 250 million would you put it in the; bank, investment company, etc., (kidding!) a new car (kidding again) or just start up one of those yourself without the aid fo their services or find a group of unemployed professionals in this country that would help you help others with your winnings without paying 40% tax and 30% commissions?

I assume that people that live in other countries aren't reading this Blog Post but then agin this is the internet and the world has probably read it after all they probably have most of my personal information.

Read some Twain and learn from it, I try too. Ken Burns' Mark Twain film is great!

Go see the National Monument or Park closest to you and pleas let us know what they are.

Have a great day and a thankful life, if you wish too that is.

National Parks

http://www.pbs.org/nationalparks/

I am enjoying the inter-National Television debut of National Parks though I wonder if
all the pre-publicity and Ken Burn's busy PLUG schedule did much other then to stir the
beans. Might it not have been better to share that time with any of the organizations
referred to in the production?

I am watching National Parks with the same enthusiasm I had many years ago when our family gathered about the TV to watch Wonderful World of Disney only this time, we watch it with HI Def TIVO recording and three TV's going in three parts of the house.

I enjoyed the 10 questions page in Life Magazine and admired Mr. Burns desire not to be in the limelight and the reference to the previous administration. Curious though as to why only your youngest daughter accompanied you to The Arches?

I enjoy the series and have heard lots of; wows, never knew that’s', really, I'm going to go there’s' which is certainly refreshing to hear with today’s Television Programming.

Hat's off to Ken Burns co-producer Dayton Duncan.

Two episodes down and four to go and I hope not to miss a second!

Devil's Tower

Well my tenetative trip to Devil's Tower is no longer tentative, I won't be going, my sponsor bailed out because of other unexpected expenditures (the economy). So... I'm free, free to find another sponsor that is!

Brookfield Zoo

Brought my own scooter for my 89 year old mother, to bad you can't get one in the parking lot or at the 'give me your money' first booths. Glad to see you think'n of your guests. Now the San Diego Zoo.... well let's just say they are top rate and it's obvious. Good luck Brookfield. Ya know you'[re marketing hasn't changed much since the 50's but, the way in has, it's under the highway but, my 89 year old mother and I remember walking across the highway to those very same existing gates. What a lost opportunity! Well , I do enjoy being a member and it isn't as far a San Diego. Maybe I should save my membership fees for enough to fly to San Diego?

Signed,
Look to the aniamls, the $ signs might follow.

What's happening to Disney World

I saw a very brief headline about a major renovation / construction project taking place in Disney World, especially in the Magic Kingdom, it's supposed to take two years to complete is this true?

I was hoping to celebrate an anniversary there next year but I've been there done that during these times before and it is no fun!

Maybe I should use my Paris tickets but, I heard it is not the best time for Americans to go.

My first trip to Disneyland last month was fantastic!

Wait, I forgot the knew Disney Resort in Hawaii might be open in 2010 great, maybe I can get a cruise out of San Diego that would work!

To Disney Time Share or is it Vacation Club or not?

This is my question. Convince me I'd love to buy one some day but, what's the catch or catches, why are so many people selling or getting out of Time Shares, not necessarily Disney but in general. What's with don't use it but still pay and lose? Is Disney the best or can anyone Disney? I do know a half dozen people that own one but I never hear anything and I know all of them aren't choosey as to where they stay.

Yes I could do all the research but after years of attending introductions, sending for information, going to see them, chances to win trips, etc. I admit I am still confused and know nothing about them and don't care to get amore pitches so someone please enlighten me.

Treasure

"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates' loot on Treasue Island and at the bottom of the Spanish Main... and best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life." - Walt Disney The Quotable Walt Disney

Recent Temperatures at Disneyland

July 17, 1955 often referred to by staff as "Black Sunday" because of construction related problems, strikes, unfinished projects, media, heat and host of other concerns. Yes they had more then their share of problems; some bathrooms didn't work right, unfinished landscaping was filled in with the name of weeds written in Latin on little signs, asphalt bore the prints of many a pair of shoes and the list goes on and on know what? They opened and the last couple of days it was in the 100's oh well hit the California Adventure rafting attraction followed by Soaring and you'll cool off.

I would have no trouble answering any questions about the opening if anyone cares to ask?

California Wildfires

I know folks are leaving their homes and pouring into the city to get away. I'm told wildfires have not been this close to LA in decades.

A Wandering ( Kinda like a song of a similar name )

Since I can go a wandering
I'd like to see the sea.
And if I could sail the seas,
I'd love to see the sites but,
take me to a happy place where I can laugh out loud
and then I'll spend a dollar or two to try to take it home but,
my mind it is a wasting and sometimes ain’t worth a bean.
So it's plain to see I need a change and
take the time to see.
Well smell the flowers and don’t be late for
if you are you’ll waste that time for
family, friends and cheer.
So as life passes on I’ll try not forget
to find the time to say hello
or say goodbye and thank you for your time.

Financial Wizardry

My homepage from my ISP normally runs a financial page and features various articles and what not anyway, one is called Walnut PoP or Wallet something well, I e-mailed the feature writer and asked, what if your bank has a lower credit score you do?

In all of her wisdom, comments and articles you would have thought I would have gotten an answer. I never did! If I had her address I thought about sending her the Financial Wizard name tag I found in the Grocery Store the other day as a kinda reminder to answer my question.

I think, in my opinion anyway; Financial Anybodies are a lot like car salespersons and weatherpersons and don't believe any of them ever get it right more then 50 50 better make that 40 60, the higher being the wrong. - Me

Salutations, exclamations, discriptions and disclaimers.

Well, if I ever do get any; questions, opinions, remarks, reviews, explanatives, comments, judgements, votes, money, honors, rewards, compliments, prizes or pats on the back I'll use em all to enrich, develop, learn from and expand this blog. Just don't comment all at once but thanks in advance for letting me know so I can update, eliminate and republish and elaborate all of what will most likely be old posts. - Me

I'm a Travel'n Man

Recently my adventures took me to Montana, LA, Anaheim, San Diego, Coronado Island and Chicago, not to mention Minnesota and North Dakota, opps. It took all of a month to enjoy and I used several modes of transportation. Car, driving to Montana takes two people and an overnight. Illinois is long like Florida or the UP right? Well try North Dakota and Montana they are very long. Anyway take as long as you can and enjoy. Glacier National Park and Lake McDonald (don't worry no Ronald) are a must, first the rock slide, then the three bears, and then the lake.
(Teddy Roosevelt National Park North Dakota) (The west is the best side of Montana look hard and see the mountain [below the clouds on the horizon, squint] range after about 14 hours)

Note:
Highway 2 is NOT for new drivers and it takes all of an experienced drivers skills this highway is covered with crosses marking traffic fatalities, hundreds and hundreds of them.

Highlights:
Saw a herd of buffalo in Minnesota, which should be called land of a thousand ponds as the lakes are a bit small. Outside of a few hours in Illinois and Minnesota everything was pretty flat until...

Lake McDonald and the Little Alps From the back of the Red Bus

I took Amtrak's Empire Builder home which was something I always wanted to do. Great Trip! If you like to strech your legs meet people and get a bit of shut eye. I will say however the biggest downside was the conditions of the bathrooms! Bad NEWS! Someone should be responsible to keep them up! I'd volunteer if I got paid a million dollars. Oh, I rode coach as I was on a budget and no what? I usually can't sleep on the train anyway not even in the Sleeper butt, I'm sure my toilet would have been clean. Well this trip lived up to my expectation though Amtrak certainly missed an opportunity to insure that I would be back! Missed the marketing boat Amtrak!

Spent most of the time in the observation car which, by the way is not like the old Vista Domes too bad they were nicer. Later after Montana my trip on The Surfliner from Anaheim to Dan Diego was fun and enjoyable.

Mars the size of the moon a sight to behold!

Look to the sky early evening and see the Evening Star or the last star you see early morning, look high into the east it will be there waiting as it has for my forever waiting just for all of us.

Here I come to get away

I think that I should like to get away, somewhere I've been or somewhere I haven't but, just to get away for a day or two or three would be just fine for me. How bout you?
